“ Stopped by for the first time today and it was so yummy! I was boring and got the bean and cheese burrito haha but it was really good so I will definitely eat that again. My husband got the steak tacos and he was obsessed. They were like medium sized tacos he didn't get super full but they hit the spot. He wants to get a steak burrito next time and I want to get tacos so yes we will be back. The salsas were so tasty too very fresh. Also impressed with the tiger nut horchata. ”
“ Taco Mesita is the fast-food version of Taco Mesa on Chapman Ave, which is the fast-casual version of Taco Rosa on Jamboree. The Calderon's have been busy! As seems to be the trend in Tustin, one defunct Mexican food place (Alberto's) has been replaced by a nicer one (Taco Mesita). The quality is top notch and it's unfair to even call this "fast food," but there is a drive-thru and food is prepared quickly. The menu is limited and not very vegan/vegetarian/pescatarian friendly, but there is something for most everyone. I had a steak taco and a pork taco. The steak was very high quality, but the pieces were large and I had a hard time taking a bite without completely eviscerating the taco. The pork was more manageable and equally tasty. At $12.50 for two tacos, it is not a cheap meal. I could be wrong, but I think the tacos are roughly the same price as Taco Mesa and Taco Rosa! I'm a big eater and would easily eat 4 tacos. This place wins for quality and convenience, but for the same price you can sit down at Taco Rosa and have a nice dining experience. If you wanted Taco Rosa quality, but don't want to leave your vehicle, this is your place. ”
“ I found Taco Mesita when I Googled for a place near where I'd be. When you put Taco and Mesita it's clearly an invitation to come and sit and eat. There is some parking in the back of the building; from what I could tell, it's more of a to-go place. I would recommend eating there. The patio is nice, with plenty of tables, and is clean. I forgot to get the staff guy's name, but he was very helpful and friendly when I mentioned it was my first time. Going through the most popular items and making some suggestions. I ordered two tacos: WOODFIRED STEAK TACO, topped with Salsa Macha, Onions & Cilantro, and WOOD ROASTED POLLO, topped with Avocado Crema Cabbage Relish, Roasted Corn Tomatillo, and Red Onion. I was given two salsas a Red and Verde. The Salsa Verde was by far the best of the two. Hotter, tastier, and went well with both meats. Si quieres salsa picosa, go for the Verde. I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of blue maize. To me, they are usually dry and crumbly and don't make for a good taco. The folks at Taco Mesita do a good job. I'd like to go and try the Aguas Frescas, the Chilaquiles, and the Churros con Chocolate. Honestly, the great service is a big motivator to come back. ”
“ OVERALL : A new gem we just discovered and are dying to go back to! Taco Mesita is a casual shop serving high quality Mexican food such as tacos, burritos, taquitos, elote, and even breakfast! They serve housemade everything and use high quality ingredients. I like that the prices are low and that it's a "fast-food" option, but so much more delicious. Def see myself coming here when I want a snack / small meal without breaking the bank! The ambiance is casual with an outdoor seating patio / ordering at the counter, but service was so friendly and helpful when we told them it was our first time. Def need to come back and try their happy hour! PARKING : This spot is located in Old Town Tustin, so parking can be limited. They do have a small parking lot though, and if you don't go during peak hours it won't be too hectic. They also have a drive thru which really helps if you don't want to worry about parking! FOOD/DRINKS : - Woodfire Steak Taco - 5 hr skirt steak cooked in puree of 5 chiles, finished on woodfire, topped with salsa macha, onion and cilantro - Al Pastor - 18 hr port shoulder finished on woodfire, cascabel adobo cactus, pineapple, tomato, red onion, cilantro Both tacos were delicious. The organic fresh made blue corn tortillas were excellent and the meats / sauces were all very flavorful! - Chips and Salsa - whipped jalapeño and smoky tomato salsas This was so yum! The portion was huge for only $3.25 and the chips were warm, fresh, and seasoned. The salsas were unique and def housemade! Jalapeño creamy sauce did have a kick to it. The smokiness in the tomato one made it my fav! ”
“ The best way I could describe this meal is Mexican soul food. It was made with such a level of care and love that you couldn't help but feel like you were invited into someone's home. Their chicken mole tamale best represented this. Massive bites of tender chicken thighs, pull apart cheese, and a flavor packed mole sauce reminiscent of the heart of Mexico. Oh and my mother in law wanted to make sure I included how friendly the guys at the counter were. Skip over this place at your own peril. ”
“ Never have I ever had a drive thru experience feel like a sit down restaurant experience. He was so kind, asked if this was my first time there, and then gave me the breakdown of how the food is prepared and recommendations to try. I was just coming for a quick bite, but then the dirty horchata was calling out to me. Definitely could use the caffeine boost. It was the perfect snack and drink to hold me over before dinner. The taquitos were yummy, that side slaw made it even better. And the dirty horchata...YUM. Would have liked a little more coffee, but that's just me. While waiting for my order I saw their holiday tamales menu. Coming back for a dozen (or so) they all sound delicious. ”
“ Taco Mesita part of the Taco Mesa/Taco Rosa family. It's the only location with a drive thru. Most of the seating is in a covered outside area and you order at the window. So it is kind of luxe fast food. But since it's all made from scratch it's not that fast. The menu is pretty unique and nothing is as you'd expect from a regular Mexican drive thru. Everything is a thought out combination of flavors. Today I went for the taquitos and quesadilla. The taquitos are filled with fresh panela cheese. They look like a cannoli. The cheese is light and fresh which contrasts the vegetables and salsa nicely. The quesadilla is a deep fried corn tortilla filled with stringy Oaxacan cheese and veggies. A similar side of salsa and pickled vegetables comes with it. This is a fun place to try different takes on items you think you are familiar with. ”
“ I'm not much for eating fancy tacos, up until today street tacos were #1 in my heart. Taco mesita has me rethinking it. These tacos were amazing! The flavor in the steak was oh so good. Light smoke and super tender, the meat had some delicious flavors in that first bite. Also, that fresh made tortilla really made the taco. Just thinking about how good this was makes my mouth water. The salsas are so good too, I especially liked the jalapeño salsa. I was drowning my taco in it. I also ordered the Jamaica margarita, which I also loved. The Jamaica has a delicious deep hibiscus flavor that complimented the margarita. The cashiers were friendly and the food didn't take too long to come out. The outdoor seating was comfortable and was cool to have a casual lunch. I highly recommend eating here. ”
